Hakuna Matata Manipal

Few days back when I went to Polar Bear to eat my favorite cake and cream , Shivprasad Shetty mentioned about his new upcoming restaurant Hakuna Matata. Immediately my response was 

Wow. Let me eat there once. And later due to my schedules *calorie cutting schedules* couldn't go. And  other day I saw a post by The 3 hungry men about the hottest pepperoni steak at Hakuna Matata. Called my cousin, to whom any level of hot isn't a thing , to go. Tadaa, a foodie like me, he and his wife and I along with my wife and kid went there. Ample parking space was the first feel good factor there. Later peeked into the restaurant and felt the atmosphere is like Britto's in Goa . As I did not want a passive smoking time with family we chose another place where smoking  wasn't allowed. And as usual my son started cribbing for French fries . And a interesting 'cheese fries ' was spotted on the menu. Ordered those. And God!!! So much disappointment.

Then comes French fries as my son did not like this. And that to was sad as ther were small pieces of half fried potatoes . And the disappointment started creeping . Then remembered pepperoni steak  and ordered . And there started the best food. Nicely cooked chicken piece in mild pepper sauce accompanied with vegetables and fries.

Later ordered kalmi Kabab too which too was mild spices nicely cooked succulent chicken. Lasagne in white sauce was great as I have tried better. 

The show stopper was Thai curry rice. Butter garlic flavored rice with curry made in Thai red curry paste with a hint of basil . This is the only reason I would want to visit  there again. 

Egg Factory in Manipal

When I had been to Bangalore to meet one my friend, I asked him I want to eat eggs for breakfast. So he took me to a place named ‘egg factory’. I became a big fan of theirs as soon as I I saw many egg delicacies on the menu .  After eating I thought my place  should have a similar restaurant. Guess my wishes where heard. 5 years after that egg factory come to Manipal. Whoa…. Must be like best day of my life . I wanted badly to go to that place and grab everything in the menu . But my adhik mah upvaas was stopping me by doing that. Never mind ‘sabr ha phal meeta hota hey’ I thought . And he day came when I asked my wife if she wants to join me on Sunday for breakfast and she said no. Went alone .  Found it good. Very good ambiance as I wanted . Courteous staff too. I do recommend this if you like  something than the coastal taste bud. 

I found the seating really great as  i love such table and chair and those bench. we actually ordered tea first as I wanted to get that feel. :)

Kejriwal toast 

 and in the menu the most attar acted name was "kejriwal toast" which is A Crisp Butter Toast topped with Masalafied Fried Egg. But it was like fellow with same surname. look so promising  but taste is a little disappointing.   

Anda Fajita.

 Anda Fajita is Scrambled Eggs with Mushroom, Red Bell Pepper & Tomatoes, 2 Tortillas. apart from tasteless tortilla this was actually a worth eating

ಮಣಿಪಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ರೊಟ್ಟಿ ಊಟ

ಇತ್ತೀಚೆಗೆ ಯಾರೋ ಒಬ್ಬ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರ ಬ್ಲಾಗಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮಣಿಪಾಲದ ಒಂದು ಹೊಸ ಹೋಟೆಲಿನ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಓದಿದೆ. ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ನನಗೆ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಸೆಳೆದದ್ದು ‘ಜೋಳದ ರೊಟ್ಟಿ’ ಸಿಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂಬ ವಿಷಯ. ನಂಗೆ ತಿನ್ನುವುದು  ಒಂದು  ಸೆಳೆತ. ಯಾರು ಯಾವ ಊರಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಬಂದರೂ ನಂಗೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಏನಾದ್ರು ಸ್ಪೆಷಲ್ ತರ್ಬೆಕು.  ಇತ್ತೀಚೆ ನನ್ನ ಒಬ್ಬ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದ . ಅವ್ನ ಜೀವ ತಿಂದು ಶೇಂಗ ಒಬ್ಬಟ್ಟು , ಲಿಂಬೆ ಉಪ್ಪಿನಕಾಯಿ, ಜೋಳದ ರೊಟ್ಟಿ ಶೇಂಗ ಚಟ್ನಿ ತರ್ಸಿದ್ದೆ. ಹಾಗೆ ಮಣಿಪಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಉಂಟು ಹೇಳುವಾಗ ಏನೋ ಒಂದು ಆನಂದ. ಅದೇ ಅನಿರ್ವಚನೀಯ ಅಂತಾರಲ್ಲ ಅದೇ ಆಯ್ತು. ಹೋದೆ ಹುಡ್ಕಿಕೊಂಡು. ಒಂದು ಚಂದ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇತ್ತು ಎ ‘ದೇಸಿ ಝಾಯ್ಕ ‘ ಹೋಟ್ಲು. ಒಳಗೆ ಹೊಗೊವಾಗ್ಲೆ ನನ್ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತ ವೆಂಕಟೇಶ ದೇಸಾಯಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದ್ರು. ಏನ್ ಸಾರ್ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂದೆ . ನಂದೆ ಸಾರ್ ಹೋಟ್ಲು ಅಂದ್ರು . ಖುಷಿ ಆಯ್ತು . ಅದ್ಭುತವಾಗಿ ಕಟ್ಟಿದ ಒಂದು ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಹೋಟ್ಲು . ಮೆನು ಓದುವಾಗ ನನ್ನ ಸಂತೋಷಕ್ಕೆ ಪಾರವೇ ಇಲ್ಲ.  ಮಿರ್ಚಿ ಭಜ್ಜಿ , ಒಗ್ಗರಣೆ ಅವಲಕ್ಕಿ , ರಾಯಚೂರ್ ಥಾಲಿ  ಇತ್ತು .ಜೋಳದ ರೊಟ್ಟಿ ಊಟ ಕೊಡಪ್ಪ ಅಂದೆ. ಅದ್ರ ಜೊತೆ ಮಿರ್ಚಿ ಭಜ್ಜಿ ಕೂಡ ಹೇಳ್ದೆ. ಆದ್ರೆ ಅವಲಕ್ಕಿ ಒಗ್ಗರಣೆ ಖಾಲಿ ಆಗಿತ್ತು . ಸಲ್ಪ ಹೊತ್ತಲ್ಲೇ ಬಂತು ನೋಡಿ. ಜೋಳದ ರೊಟ್ಟಿ , ಖಾರ ಉಪ್ಪಿನಕಾಯಿ , ಬದನೆ ತುಂಬಗಾಯಿ , ಶೇಂಗಾ ಚಟ್ನಿ , ಝುಣ್ಕ  ಮತ್ತೆ ಸಲ್ಪ ತರಕಾರಿ ಸಲಾಡ್ . ಅದ್ರ ಜೊತೆ ತೊಂಡೆ ಪಲ್ಯ , ಪಾಯಸ , ಟೊಮೇಟೊ ಸಾರು, ಮೊಸರು, ಮಜ್ಜಿಗೆನೂ ಇತ್ತು . ಸಿಕ್ಕಾಪಟ್ಟೆ ಮೆದುವಾಗಿತ್ತು ರೊಟ್ಟಿ. ಸೀದಾ ಉತ್ತರ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಖಾನಾವಳಿ ಹೋದಂಗೆ ಆಯ್ತು . ;ನಾಲಕ್ಕೈದು ರೊಟ್ಟಿ ತಿಂದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅನ್ನದೊಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿರೋ ಸಾಂಬಾರ್ ಕೂಡ. ಹೊಟ್ಟೆ ತುಂಬಾ ತಿಂದು ಹೃದಯ ತುಂಬಿ ಹಾರೈಸಿ ಬಂದೆ. ಒಂದು ಒಳ್ಳೆ ಅನುಭವ. ಆದ್ರೆ ಖಾರ ಸಲ್ಪ ಕಮ್ಮಿ. ನಮ್ಮ ಊರಿನ ಜನಕ್ಕೆ ಅವ್ರು ಖಾರ ಕಮ್ಮಿ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಂತೆ. ಇನ್ನು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ದಿನದಲ್ಲೇ ಗಿರ್ಮಿಟ್ , ಖಾರ ಮಂಡಕ್ಕಿ ಶುರು ಮಾಡ್ತಾರಂತೆ ದೇಸಾಯಿಗಳು. ಕಡೆಗೂ ಉಡುಪಿ-ಮಣಿಪಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ರೊಟ್ಟಿ ಊಟದ ಬರ ನೀಗಿದೆ.
